Also known as micropigmentation, permanent cosmetics, derma pigmentation, micro pigmentation. Permanent makeup is a safe cosmetic application where high grade pigment is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin. The reasons for permanent makeup are abundant, therefore the interest in the procedure has been steadily increasing for both women and men. The fact is simple: permanent cosmetics is a fast and effective way to improve the way you look. It is not about changing your look, but rather, enhancing your natural features. Cosmetic tattoo is a way to save time and make your life easier. Wake up every morning with perfect make up. Go for a swim, to the gym, have a run, play tennis, golf, shower or perspire, your make up won’t smudge or run off.
Permanent Cosmetics is perfect for the busy person/professional who has little to no time to apply conventional makeup, those who like to wake up with a fresh natural look, eyebrow symmetry, the athlete who wants to look natural, Alopecia sufferers, those with medical conditions that cause their hands to shake, areola re-pigmentation after breast reconstruction/cancer, vision problems or those that have allergic reactions to over the counter makeup products..but mostly for convenience!
Micropigmentation last a long time, but not forever. As you become accustomed to your new make up, it’s not uncommon to want more. You will want to freshen up your new make up every couple of years. The darker the color, the longer it will stay unchanged in your skin. Natural, delicate colors are oftentimes more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming and breakdown by body’s natural response.
Healing time varies from person to person. With proper topical anesthetics & numbing, swelling will be very minimal and typically there is no bleeding involved with my procedures. I provide each client with aftercare package and written instructions. The treated area will begin to soften/lighten up within 3-30 days...and it is recommended to have your touch-up appointment within 2 months following your original procedure.
A topical anesthesia is used as needed to help numb the areas to be treated. This helps to alleviate any minor discomfort you may experience during the procedure. Everyone has their own unique level of pain tolerance. Some people feel that certain areas of the face are more sensitive than others, so special emphasis is put on making the client as comfortable as possible. A variety of topical anesthetics are on hand to ensure that your procedure is as pain-free as possible.
The initial procedure will generally take approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours; there are records to establish, photographs to take, desired design and color to discuss, the procedure to perform and the aftercare requirements to discuss. Follow up or color refresher procedures usually do not require the same amount of time.

PMU before Chemotherapy
The first option for permanent makeup for cancer patients is to have their procedure before they start with chemotherapy. If they have their eyebrows pmu'd before they start losing their hair, they could prevent the fairly dramatic situation of a hair loss. These patients might not even notice when their eyebrows are gone. If a patient wants to prevent this visible aspect of eyebrow loss, then it would be best to opt for the procedure before chemotherapy.
It’s important to remember that it’s never recommended to undergo this treatment during chemo, as the tissue is very sensitive, and thus the bleeding can be much worse, which can lead to more infections.
When to do it? Probably somewhere six to eight weeks prior to your first chemo. This way, patients will have enough time for a touch-up month later, and they will heal properly before they start their chemo. Even though the second appointment is not always needed, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
PMU after Chemotherapy
On the contrary, PMU for cancer patients can be done after chemotherapy as well. However, the patient needs to speak to the doctor and the nurse beforehand, as they will give him the best tips on when to do it. In most cases, patients need to wait a couple of weeks before they opt for any aesthetic procedure, especially a semi-permanent or permanent tattoo.
If the patients wait to end their chemotherapy in order to go with PMU, they need to be aware of the fact that they will experience hair loss, which is quite traumatic. However, the reward of getting new eyebrows after they lost their real ones is definitely priceless, and very uplifting.
Even though the procedure itself has many benefits, PMU for cancer patients has two very important benefits. The first one is confidence. PMU is a procedure that will give everyone very natural eyebrows, which is definitely something cancer patients might need. Having pretty eyebrows can therefore enhance their mood, positivity and confidence. The right artist will use all the right pigments and movements, so that they experience their real eyebrows once again.
The second benefit is that there is no down time, thus the patients will get their results immediately after the procedure. With a difficult sickness such as cancer, having no down time and actually being able to see the difference right after the procedure is priceless.
